The format

What Revolut's psychometric test actually looks like

Where in the application timeline it sits: The online assessment follows the initial CV and application form screening stage. For most graduate and internship tracks at Revolut, candidate reports suggest this test link is dispatched automatically or within a short automated window after submitting a completed application profile via their applicant tracking system.

Timed sections

Most psychometric tests split into 3-5 sections, each with its own clock. Speed and accuracy both count.

Adaptive difficulty

Modern formats get harder if you answer correctly, easier if you struggle. Your final score reflects what you can actually do under time pressure.

Pass mark

Revolut sets a pass mark per test type. Below it, you don't progress regardless of how strong the rest of your application is.

Section breakdown

What each part of the assessment tests

Most psychometric tests break into the same handful of section types. Knowing what each one is screening for is half the battle.

Numerical reasoning

Tables, graphs, percentage calculations. The trap is rushing, most candidates make arithmetic errors under time pressure, not because the maths is hard.

Verbal reasoning

"True / False / Cannot Say" against a passage. The "Cannot Say" trap catches everyone, only the passage matters, not what you think is true.

Logical / abstract reasoning

Spot the next shape in a sequence. Test of pattern recognition under time pressure. Practise these because there is no real-world equivalent.

Situational judgement

Pick the best workplace response from four options. Each firm has a rubric for "good", your job is to match it, not pick what you would actually do.

Pass mark

How Revolut scores the assessment

Practical pass mark: Candidate reports suggest that competitive applicants generally need to score in the upper quartile (typically top 70th to 80th percentile or higher) across cognitive modules to clear the automated filter.

Methodology. Threshold type: SHL and similar platforms utilize norm groups, meaning raw scores are converted into percentiles based on a large reference pool of previous applicants. Score aggregation: Scores across numerical, verbal, and logical sections are typically evaluated as a composite or require minimum clearance thresholds across all individual tests.

How to practise

Drill the skills Revolut's test measures

Revolut uses a multi-section reasoning test, a format we don't imitate. These practice tests drill the same underlying reasoning skills, timed and scored, so the day-one experience still feels familiar.

  • Core-skills practice. Numerical, verbal and logical reasoning at graduate level: the skills under Revolut's test, without pretending to be its interface.
  • Provider-true difficulty. Item difficulty mirrors the band the real tests sit at, so your score means something.
  • Coaching, not just a score. "You are spending too long on table-data questions" beats "you scored 68%". Specific advice per weak section.
  • Percentile benchmarking. Your score placed on a modelled UK graduate norm curve, so you know if 70% is excellent or worrying for that test.

Why candidates fail

How candidates lose Revolut's assessment

Specific failure patterns documented across past applicants. Most are avoidable with structured preparation.

  1. 1

    Poor time management

Spending too much time on difficult table calculations early in the numerical test, leaving insufficient time for easier questions towards the end.

  2. 2

    Falling for external knowledge traps

In verbal reasoning, using real-world facts about Revolut's banking licence or crypto services rather than restricting logic strictly to the provided passage text.

  3. 3

    Calculation entry errors

Mistyping decimals or currency exchange rates on calculator apps while under acute time pressure.

  4. 4

    Rushing situational judgement

Treating behavioural sections as an afterthought and selecting answers based on generic corporate platitudes rather than direct ownership.

  5. 5

    Unfamiliarity with platform interface

Struggling with calculator tools, drag-and-drop mechanics, or keyboard shortcuts during the live test environment.

  6. 6

    Failing to maintain consistency

Giving contradictory answers in personality or situational judgement blocks due to second-guessing what recruiters want to hear.

  7. 7

Neglecting negative marking or guessing strategies

Leaving blank answers when the platform does not penalize incorrect guesses, missing out on potential points.

  8. 8

    Test anxiety paralysis

Freezing when encountering an unfamiliar question type, losing valuable minutes without making a selection.

What works

What separates the candidates who pass

Concrete habits drilled by candidates who clear the cut-off, drawn from applicant accounts and practice patterns.

  • Platform fluency

Practising on exact interface layouts so that calculator use, flagging questions, and navigation feel entirely automatic.

  • Strict time-budgeting

Allocating a strict hard stop per question (e.g., 60 seconds maximum for numerical) and moving on immediately if stuck.

  • The "Cannot Say" discipline

Cultivating the habit of treating any unmentioned extrapolation in verbal reasoning as invalid, regardless of plausibility.

  • Calibration runs

Completing multiple full-length timed mock tests under exam conditions prior to opening the official Revolut assessment link.

  • Systematic elimination

Rapidly crossing out implausible multiple-choice options in logical matrices to improve odds when forced to make an educated guess.

  • Scratchpad hygiene

Keeping neat, structured notes during numerical tests to prevent careless arithmetic transcription errors.

  • Value-aligned mindset

Approaching situational judgment questions with a consistent framework centred on speed, ownership, and uncompromising execution.

  • Peak-state scheduling

Taking the test during a window of high cognitive alertness free from environmental distractions or interruptions.

Practice strategy

Where to drill the Revolut format

Source realistic material: Utilize dedicated psychometric preparation platforms that license or closely replicate SHL test engines (such as Graduates First, JobTestPrep, or SHL's own practice portal).

  • Targeted weak points

Spend the first week diagnosing errors through un-timed practice, then transition strictly to timed practice to build speed under pressure.

  • Investment of hours

Successful candidates who pass competitive fintech assessments typically log between 15 and 25 hours of focused practice spread across two weeks before launching the official link.

  • Simulate exam conditions

Complete full tests in a quiet room with a physical calculator, scrap paper, and no browser extensions or secondary tabs open.

Time management

Five moves that protect your score

  1. 01Set your own clock per question. Divide section time by question count. Move on when you hit your per-question budget, even if you are mid-thought.
  2. 02Read the question before the chart. Half the work in numerical is finding the right number in a table. Knowing what you are looking for cuts the time in half.
  3. 03Use "Cannot Say" generously. Verbal reasoning rewards strict reading. If the passage does not say it, the answer is "Cannot Say", not your own inference.
  4. 04Skip the impossible ones. Most tests do not penalise wrong answers more than skips. If you cannot see it in 20 seconds, flag and move on.
  5. 05Practise the exact format, not a generic stand-in. a multi-section reasoning test has its own rhythm, and a generic reasoning test is not the same. Intervyo's simulation is calibrated to this format, so you rehearse the real thing under real timing rather than a generic aptitude set.
